The international conference “exCHange for a challenge” in higher education for restoration, conservation and risk management of works of art -a cooperation project between Turkey and EU within the CSDII Programme- is taking place at Kocaeli University Anıtpark Campus through March 1-3, 2012 within the framework of the Project “Experience for a change within the Cultural Heritage Sector - exCHange” implemented within the Turkey and EU Civil Society Dialogue II, Culture and Arts Component.

exCHange is a project implemented under the supervision of the Turkish Ministry of EU Affairs and contracted by the Central Finance and Contracts Unit (CFCU), representing the Republic of Turkey.

The conference “exCHange  for a challenge” in higher education for restoration, conservation and risk management of works of art -a cooperation project between Turkey and EU within the CSDII Programme- aims to:

  • gather  recommendation for development of higher education in conservation, restoration and risk management of movable works of art;
  • promote public awareness on conservation of audiovisual cultural heritage which is part of our common legacies from the past;
  • develop capacity/professional upgrade of both universities/NGO experts in Turkey, Italy and other EU countries;
  • establish sustainable channels for exchange of information, transfer of knowledge between Turkey and EU countries
  • establish long term partnership/cooperation with national and international actors engaged in the conservation and restoration of movable cultural heritage with a focus on works of art (textiles and ceramics) along with audiovisual works of art;


Implemented by partners NGOs in  association with universities and a local authority, “Experience for a change within the Cultural Heritage Sector - exCHange” project with its outputs is expected to have a positive impact on higher education in and perception of restoration and conservation sector in Turkey. Finally, it is expected that the project will pave the way for change towards transforming conservation into a science in Turkey. 

While taking the first step to this possible change, we welcome you to the conference to hear your opinions, suggestions and invaluable contributions.
